het werk is mijn reactie op de voortdurende stroom aan informatie (al dan niet FAKE ) die ons bereikt op allerlei schermen en onze dagelijkse bezigheid sterk beheerst

het werk is mijn zoektocht naar het echte leven, naar het essentiële, naar de verstilling naar leegte en rust

mijn schermen zijn opgebouwd uit holle en bolle gezandstraalde glazen elementen die de beelden  vasthouden en vervormen

mijn werk is als een onbeschreven blad, een TABULA RASA, waarop het licht elke dag een nieuw verhaal kan tekenen

een jaar geleden werd ons leven grondig door elkaar geschud door de CORONA pandemie

schermen rezen "en mas" op om ons te beschermen tegen het virus

de verstilling die de wereld broodnodig had, kwam ongevraagd, bruusk en onafwendbaar

als in een cocon zit de mens nu tussen de schermen waarop hij de tijd langzaam ziet voorbijglijden

ditmaal is het de mens en niet de natuur die zich moet aanpassen

We cannot visualise our lives without screens.

Continuously we are surrounded by screens, big and small, from which we are bombarded with pictures and portrayals without interruption – nothing is left to our own imagination.

In reaction to this never-ending stream of projected information (often fake….) Bea started searching for the essential; for the screen still blank and silent, for the authentic images of life.

This search resulted in the design of a different screen: a screen built with “pixels” of glass – convex or concave – on which images of a new reality can be portrayed. This screen is therefore a “Tabula rasa”, an empty slate.

The shadows on the glass form a synergy of light, time and context; unique for every moment. Time writes on this screen, according to its own rhythm and metaphors, and without colors and slogans and intrusions being thrust upon the viewer.

On sunny days the images on the glass reflect happiness and exuberance, with clarity and contrast.

On a dull and grey day the images are subdued and filled with shadows, making them difficult to decipher.

During the past year we have been confronted with a paradigm change, in the form of a deadly global pandemic. Our paradigms (the ways in which we perceive the world) have changed, and so have the screens – now not only the screens at which we look, but also the screens through which we look…

And consequently we suddenly have different screens: screens to mask and protect us from the invisible danger surrounding us, forcing us to look inside, to experience the silence and serenity so badly needed in order to make sense and find the essential meaning of our existence.

With her unique design, Bea invites viewers to create their own images on these new screens within the framework provided by light and time and context. On these screens we can write our own stories, free from the constraints and confusion created by all the other screens in our lives.
